Silkscreen Printing

Only four-colour fully-automatic unit in the Southern Hemisphere

The Hirt & Carter screen printing department is one of the most sophisticated in South Africa, with a SIAS fully-automatic four-colour system that has a bed size of 1665 mm x 2650 mm.

The entire process is automated, from the electronic computer-to-screen process that gives you a superior quality image (for the technically-minded, computer-to-screen holds the dots better; there is no quality fall-off at the edges of the image), through the automatic four-colour screen machine to the screen reclaiming unit.

The entire printing process is UV based which means that the sheets are dry as they come off the press. The result is that we print wet on dry rather than wet on wet, to give a superior finished product.

We also have a fifth colour unit that allows for specialised colours, varnishes, and personalisation.

The system can handle virtually any substrate up to 8 mm in thickness (including steel, masonite, polystyrene, styrene and chipboard).

Our semi-automatic Atmax is a single-colour unit, with a maximum print area of 1200 mm x 2800 mm, while the hand tables can handle smaller jobs with a size of 1500 mm x 1100 mm.
